What should I bring to the hospital?

A list of medications you currently take, including over-the counter drugs, herbs, vitamins, and any allergies you may have.

Your insurance card and identification, such as motor vehicle license.

Any Advance Directives or Living Will.

A small amount of cash, but no valuables or jewelry.

Many of these items may be provided by the hospital, but you may prefer your own.

- your own razor
- cosmetics, but no perfume
What will happen when I first enter the hospital?

An ID band will be given to you. If the band comes off, be sure to have it replaced.

The surgeon will confirm the surgery site, and mark it, ie. with ink, just before the surgery.

Inform a nurse ahead of time if you will need to keep glasses or a hearing aid.
